Do not BID if your not serious about eBay, have low feedback score or live billions of miles away, wastes my time and my money… I purchased this boat many years ago from a work colleague. The boat was involved in a small bump to the rear end, previous owner fixed that and gave it a nice new change of colour, unfortunately while repairing the boat, the engine was left on it’s side and it seizing solid. (The exhaust cooling plate had splits in it)… After I purchased, it was rewired, new battery, new gauges, new steering cable, new winch etc. Sourced new engine and rebuilt a outboard totally with all the parts, leg upwards, new oil everything. All fine and running beautifully. The OB cover states 70HP (I think), but it’s definitely a 85HP. It’s a triple 2-stroke, roughly about 1500cc. The previous owner helped me (as I had never used a power boat before let alone owned one) and he said I’d done a great job as it went “really well”, well it would with 10 more horses. We used it a few times skiing but my interest was really getting it going again. These engines come in three variants, 70, 75 and 85HP. I have the full service manual for the engine. The trailer is a single axle, non braked type and recently was checked and welding done as the tow hitch part, which was exposed to the elements, was rusted. It’s had two new tyre’s before it’s trip up North. It did have a new battery before it’s trip to Scotland a few years back and the cooling pump checked etc. all checked. It wasn’t worth towing all that distance if anything was wrong. There was and still is a weak area on the carpeted floor just by the rear seat which I intended to fix one day but settled for the option of treading carefully. There is 4-5 seating, mini seats I believe, it’s 16′ long. Information and data on the 149 Ski-Special is bit thin and therefore I’m not sure about the boats OB maximum size but 85Hp on the back and we’ve given it some stick, hasn’t fallen off. Sadly this is where it goes down hill.. Brother got it to Scotland fine, I didn’t have a towing vehicle at the time, even managed to get it into the drink. I have no idea what happened next but we turned up a week later and the new battery was dead and on charge, this was replaced by a smaller battery but I managed to start it fine. Since it hadn’t been run properly for some time I took my time to run the boat gentle and after an hour or so she was back on plain and purring along, pump etc. all working, back to normal I guess. On the way back to port, so to speak, the engine died unexpected, it restarted and ran fine but repeated a few minutes later, this time the engine definitely sounded ill trying to restart and I immediately recognized the situation as a part seize, lucky enough I made it back to my starting point drifting. She was left up north for a few months until the brother was up there again to tow her back and on the way back the O/S indespension unit failed, before he realized what was up the axle sustained damaged. So, boat trailer needs new axle, standard bit of metal, 2 x U bolts and I recommend 2 new indespension units. The outboard needs looking at by a professional, it might get away with just a lapping, I’m no expert on these things but worse case new pistons and a re-bore. The boat is fine however the floor is weak at the back and it’s new home isn’t covered like I had in my old house with it’s car port and no matter how many covers and rain prevention I try the water always gets in. I have left the drain plugs out. It’s all GRP… It has a front tank and from memory costs a small fortune to fill. Used to last most of the day.. I fully intended to repair the engine, fix the trailer and mend the floor before selling it on as I have absolutely no interest in skiing and just as much lack of enthusiasm to tow it anywhere, however it’s sat there getting in my way and thus want rid of it. It doesn’t help having 2 slipped disc’s in my back. I’m looking for roughly £200, no reserve, CASH please, no Paypal. Sold as spares / repair, won’t take someone long with a bit of enthusiasm to sort out, comes with some ski’s and tow lines, nothing special, wood ones I believe which can be either mono or two ski’s… Please be aware you will need a trailer to collect… Happy bidding.
